Dolphins use to be a good team –

When I was a kid I liked the Dolphins (probably influenced by watching Miami Vice) and they were a good team. It pains me to see how bad of a team they are now. Should be an easy win for the Giants.

NEW YORK GIANTS: The Giants have the 10th-ranked rushing and 16th-ranked passing offense, to go with their 10th-ranked rushing and 13th-ranked passing defense. They would rank better in all categories over the past month, and that is what counts.

The Giants (5-2) and Dolphins (0-7) have not met for more than four years, rendering any past games irrelevant to this, the first-ever overseas regular season NFL game.

TEAM STRENGTH: Amazingly, one might be able to argue that the team strength is the fact that they seem to have bought into the ‘team’ concept, finally, now that big-mouth Tiki Barber is not there disrupting the locker room with his me-first attitude. Whatever problems the team might have, we are left to guess, which is the way it should be and what Coughlin was unable to incur until Tiki was gone. The Giants, after allowing 80 points in their first two games, have surrendered just 69 points over their five-game win streak. With a win this week, they will have their first six-game win streak in 13 years.

TEAM WEAKNESS: While the Giants’ passing game has definitely improved over last year, Eli needs to maintain his focus if the G-men are to translate their improved overall play to continued success. Considering the enormous pressure and media scrutiny he faces each week, it is fair to say he is doing a pretty good job of this. Each interception renews comparisons with his brother and each touchdown pass raises the question of whether or not he has finally matured. The weakness is not his play, but the possibility of outside forces affecting his play.

NEEDS TO WIN: To win, the Giants must continue to play the way they have been over the past 5 weeks. Pressure the opposing quarterback into getting sacked or making a few wrongs reads and errant throws. This week, it is hard to say how the travel will affect either team, but NY certainly has a large upper hand here, all else being equal.

The Dolphins Suck –

Holy cow do they ever suck. It's hardly fair to those Londoners who have never seen an American football game before, you know what I mean?

I Agree, Kirk –

Miami Dolphins (0-7)

The Dolphins are 0-7 going into London. As in London, England. As in London where the word “football” is applied to an entirely different sport. Who has got home field advantage in this matchup and does it even matter? The New York Giants have a killer offense and defense going, while the Dolphins have… well, they’ve been killed all season to the tune of 231 points. Miami fans had better keep their fingers and toes crossed on this one because it could get bloody ugly… as the Brits like to say.

One of the best teams vs. one of the worst. Not the best matchup to send to England if the NFL is trying to generate any interest over there.

Sorry, League –

...is what the Dolphins management must be saying to league officials right now, and the league must be cursing its luck almost as much as the Dolphins are. At least the Dolphins will get the first pick in next year's draft out of this bum year, but the NFL will be showing a very, very bad product to the overseas fans. Unless the commish has given strict instructions to both teams not to let things get out of hand, I can't see how the Giants don't win in a 29-3 blowout. Well, maybe 36-10, as Zach Thomas - feeling rejuvenated after his car crash last Sunday - intercepts Eli Manning and runs it in for a score in the first quarter.

The Giants aren't a Great Team..  –

But the Dolphins are the worst team in the league. They just lost their #1 quarterback, receiver, and running back in back to back to back weeks. Jessie Chatman is a good backup, but the Dolphins and Giants will be a couple scores away on the final difference in this one. Did I say the Dolphins were bad? They are.
