Well the Giants are more improved since their first games. Their defence is better and they are moving the ball. S Fran just does not seem to be doing better. They act like they do not care once they get down. Giants will not cover the spread but should win the game.
Maybe I am just making this pick because I hate the Giants, or maybe it is cuz I hate the Giants. I can't remember, but I really hate the Giants. Eff-U, Eli! And Shockey McDropsalot, too.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: Ranked last (32nd) in offense and 20th in defense.
LAST MEETING: Giants won 24-6 in San Francisco.
TEAM STRENGTH: Considering the fact that the Niners defense is on the field for longer than any other defense in the NFL, at over 34 minutes per game, the fact that they are still able to be ranked 20th overall is a success in itself. Mind you, it is about the only real success this team has going for it this season.
TEAM WEAKNESS: Offense. All of it. The 49ers have scored 6 offensive touchdowns all season long. For a comparison, in Week Two, the Browns and the Bengals scored six touchdowns in one game. Each. The loss of Norv Turner as an offensive coordinator has left this team lacking, and with Alex Smith done for a while…well, it doesn’t really matter. This team needs to hire Turner back as soon as the Chargers fire him.
NEEDS TO WIN: Eli Manning must have a very, very bad day, Brandon Jacobs and every other Giants running back must be injured and Trent Dilfer must morph into Brett Favre. The way the Niners offensive line has been playing – only the Eagles, Lions and Falcons have allowed more than SF’s 18 sacks – means Dilfer will be running around a lot. If his receivers can get open and he can find them and deliver the ball accurately, without getting taken down…Yeah, it is going to be tough.
NEW YORK GIANTS (4-2): The San Francisco 49ers are struggling and that’s good news for a streaking Giants squad that desperately wants to give their fans a win at home. Four wins in a row is nice, but five would be sweet. Oh sure, they coughed up 80 points in their first two games, but since then the Giants have only allowed 54 points – 14 of those coming on an offensive turnover and a kickoff return. The Giants are ranked sixth in the NFL in total offense and points per game and have allowed seven sacks. With Derrick Ward, Brandon Jacobs and Reuben Droughs rushing for a combined 376 yards over the past two games alone, they’ll want to add to that total in this lopsided affair. Receiver Plaxico Burress is tied for the NFL lead with eight touchdown receptions and QB Eli Manning is on fire completing an impressive career-high 60.7 percent of his passes.
The key to the game is NYG stopping 49er running game. Thats the weakest link for the Giants. I don't see Dilfer beating them through the air. WHEN Giants do take away the run...The Giants awesome pass rush will give DB Rookie Sensation Aaron Ross opportunities to add to his interception totals. Plaxico Burress just can't be stopped by 49ers D. Eli doesn't look as confused as he was earlier in the year. All he has to do this sunday is just manage the game. He does not have to force anything, thats when he gets in trouble.
Effin' Manning –
